For Baume&Mercier 2011 was the Hampton year. Everything started in SIHH, where the company designed one of the most beautiful booths, created like a mansion with ocean view, in the elegant and glamorous style of the American high society favorite place. Obviously, the year ends with the same tone of voice, with the Baume&Mercier Christmas campaign, Christmas in the Dunes, and Baume&Mercier displays Christmas presents inspiration in four collections.
Classima, a bestseller around the world among business executives, moves from the stress of the city to the serenity of The Hamptons. Capeland suggests seaside living with the marked curve of its case back and crystal that is a reminder of the soft contours of a sea-weathered stone. Capeland displays a two-toned dial, a subtle reminder of a 1950s aesthetic. The watch includes both a tachymeter and a telemeter and is water-resistant up to 50 meters.
The Hampton collection was inspired by a museum piece from the 1940s and includes watches for both men and women. The men's pieces exist in a self-winding version with a small seconds hand at 6 o'clock, a size of 32 x 45 mm and an ETA 2895 movement; or an automatic chronograph version with counters sporting just a touch of red to dress up the dial, a size of 30 x 47 mm, and an ETA 2894 movement. The ladies' pieces, generously sized (27 x 40 mm), have kept the highly distinctive satined domed volume and curved case side of the museum watch. On the Core Collection models, the wristband is made of alligator or satin-finished polished steel.
And the Linea collection is available in a 27 mm diameter, or 32 mm for the chronograph and automatic model. The model's signature bezel engraved with the 12 hours of the day is even more readable on this new version that also includes date and central sweep-seconds hand.
